Sometimes a dealer will request approval documents from the steel building supplier to be sure that the supplier has correctly interpreted the dealer's requirements in the order documents. Approval documents include plans, design calculations, and other specified information. In this case, the supplier will furnish these documents to the dealer for approval. The supplier does not proceed with the fabrication of the steel building system until the dealer returns a set of the approval documents with a notation of approval or approval subject to changes or corrections.
If the dealer does not make changes or corrections to the approval documents, this means that the steel building supplier has correctly interpreted the requirements st forth in the order documents and the supplier may proceed with the fabrication of the steel building system. If there are any changes or modifications to the approval documents, the supplier proceeds to have the building fabricated as per the specifications provided in the approval documents.
When a dealer returns the approval documents with modifications or corrections, it is considered a request by the dealer for the supplier to modify the order documents. If the supplier agrees, the fabrication of the steel building system may proceed.
Steel Building Plans
When approval documents have not been required, or the dealer has approved the approval documents, the supplier prepares the fabrication drawings and provides the dealer with prints of the anchor bolt plans, erection drawings, and erection instructions.
Fabrication Drawings
Steel building systems do not include fabrication drawings and these drawings are not furnished by the steel building supplier.
