Erection of Steel Buildings Part 2

Site Survey

Before the erection of the steel building system, the end customer must provide a current survey of the building site that has been certified by a registered surveyor. The end customer must also stake out property lines to be identified to the erector.

Concrete Slab, Foundation and Anchor Bolt Setting

Since the end customer is responsible for the foundation, any additional costs incurred from errors in the concrete slab and foundation or in the setting of the anchor bolts, are to be paid by the end customer. The erector is responsible for inspecting the foundation to verify that the concrete dimensions and anchor bolt locations are correct before beginning the erection of the steel building system.

Delays and Overtime Wages

When an erector bids on the erection of a steel building system, the contract consideration in figured on the basis of the usual forty-hour week. If the end customer causes any delays or interruptions in the erection process, the end customer will be responsible for paying these additional costs.

Job Site Accessibility

When a steel building system is being erected, it is the responsibility of the end customer to be sure the job site is clean and easily accessible to trucks for delivery of materials and erection equipment. It is expected that the site will be well prepared for the erectors to complete their work without any challenges caused by lack of proper preparation.
